Local Historical Materials in Banshū

The library has rare local historical materials which were held in Himeji Higher School (in the old education system). This collection consists of 509 documents, most of them are local materials in Banshū. Representative examples are as follows.

The Ancient Documents of Hiromine Shrine

The Jodo-ji Engi

“The Jodo-ji Engi” is the hand scroll that shows a history of the Jodo Temple in Ono city, Hyogo Prefecture. It was written in 1372 (Oan 5) at first, then was duplicated in 1614 (Keicho 19). Banshū Hizakurige

This is the published book in late Edo Era, written by Ikku Jippensha. This is the only copy that is found now.

Personal Collections

Niijima Collection

This is a collection of 3,047 materials of humanities and social sciences, which was held by Shigeru Niijima（Iwao Nogami）.
* The independent catalogue of this collection doesn’t exist, and materials are mixed to other books.

Hara Collection

This is a collection of 1,411 materials of German literatures, languages and arts, which was held by Hirotake Hara.

Ninomiya Collection

This is a collection of 322 materials of English literatures ,mainly about D.H. Lawrence and T.S. Eliot, which was held by Takamichi Ninomiya.

Momose Collection

This is a collection of 449 materials of Chinese History ,mainly “Kanseki”, which was held by Hiromu Momose.

Master’s Theses

In any case of reading or copying master’s theses, you need a warrant of the author’s agreement.
Applicants must acquire permission from the author on their own, without library assistance.
Reception hours: 8:45a.m.-5:00p.m. on weekdays
