Library Card

With your library card, you can borrow materials. About a library card, please check the link below.

Borrowing & Returning

Borrowing

When you have found the materials that you want to borrow, you can take them to the information desk or the self-service machine with your student card or library card.
Borrowing books by Postal service

Returning

Materials must be returned by the due date to the library. Materials may be returned to any library in Kobe University.

#When the library is closed…
If the library is closed, drop the books into the “Book Post” (book drop). Book Post is set near the entrance of the library.
#When you damaged or lost books…
Please consult with staff at the information desk. You will be asked to replace it by purchasing the same item.

Lending Terms and Conditions

Lending Terms and Conditions are as indicated below:

  • Each library has each limit of volumes.
    For example, an undergraduate may borrow other 10 materials of Library for Social Sciences when he or she has already borrowed 10 materials of General Library.
  • You cannot borrow or renew books if you have 1 or more overdue books.

During holidays period, the library may conduct the long-term lending service. Please check the library’s website.

Renewing

You can renew your items before due date.

  • Bringing the items with you to the information desk or the self-service machine, you can renew.
    You can renew your items in whichever library in Kobe University.
  • You can renew also on the website.

☆Renewals will not be possible…
・if you have overdue items
・if the item has been reserved

☆non-renewable items
・journals, AV materials
・other specific items which each library doesn’t permit to renew
・items held in laboratory
 Although faculty may permit you to renew the item, you must consult with library staff in advance.

Reservation / Campus Delivery Service

The items owned by Kobe University Libraries can be reserved or delivered to every campus library you selected, from “Reserve” icon in the holding record of OPAC. (Login required)

Note

  • When the book is already available at the library you selected for check out, this service cannot be used.
  • Before the item you reserved is sent, it might be borrowed by someone who directly comes to the library.
  • If other users have already reserved the item, you can receive it on a first-come and first-served basis. You can check the number of persons who is reserving the item on OPAC.
  • If you would like to borrow the Laboratory Possession Book, please check “Using a book held in laboratory”.

Check of Status of Lending/Reservation

On the module “Check of Status of Lending/Reservation” on OPAC, you can do the following things.

  • To check your items and their due date*
  • To renew your items
  • To check your reservation / delivery status*
  • To cancel your reservation
  • To check your borrowing & returning history*

*You can download TSV files from “Output File” (available only on PCs).

Laboratory Books

The item whose location name is “Laboratory” is held in the laboratory, so you can’t use it freely.
When you would like to use that item, please check the link “●●Lib : Laboratory” on OPAC.
