{"id":23746,"date":"2022-02-17T14:24:55","date_gmt":"2022-02-17T05:24:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lib.kobe-u.ac.jp\/libraries\/?page_id=23746"},"modified":"2026-09-08T09:44:21","modified_gmt":"2026-09-08T00:44:21","slug":"facilities","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/lib.kobe-u.ac.jp\/libraries\/en\/list\/shakai\/facilities\/","title":{"rendered":"Facilities (SocSci)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"#group\">Group Study Rooms<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#break\">Break Room<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#pod\">Online Pod<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#main\">Main Reading Room<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#sub\">Sub Reading Room<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#browse\">Browsing Room<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"#journal\">Journal Room<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"group\"><span class=\"header-line\">Group Study Rooms<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-group.jpg\" alt=\"Group Study Room\" class=\"wp-image-2279\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Members of the Faculties and Graduate Schools of Law, Economics, Business Administration, and International Cooperation Studies can reserve Group Study Rooms one week in advance.<br>\u3000Other university members can make reservations on the day of use.<br>\u3000Movable chairs and tables, white boards and screens are available.<br>If necessary, the partition between Group Study Rooms 1 and 2 can be removed for 9 or more people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"user\">Terms of Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Available for group studies of <strong>3 or more people<\/strong>.<br>* For <strong>9 or more people<\/strong>, 2 rooms can be connected together.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Members of the Faculties and Graduate Schools of Law, Economics, Business Administration, and International Cooperation Studies<\/strong> can book via the website.<br>* Only on the day of use and booking, other university members can apply at Information Desk.<br>* Not for only external users.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Only for study and research.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>From the week before the exam to the end of the exam, the rooms cannot be reserved, but available as study rooms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"reserve\">How to Reserve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reservations can be made on the website one week before the date of use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your representative can apply <a href=\"https:\/\/op.lib.kobe-u.ac.jp\/opac\/rsv\/?lang=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>.<br>*If the rooms are to be connected, they must be reserved by a person other than the representative of the group (who must be a member of the University).<br>In this case, please indicate in the remarks column that they are part of the same group.<br>(Case 1) When the representative of the group reserves Group Study Room 1, please fill in the &#8220;Notes&#8221; column &#8220;Same group as 2&#8221;.<br>(Case 2) When a user other than the representative of the user reserves Group Study Room 2, please fill in \u201cNotes\u201d column \u201cthe same group as 1\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"hours\">Hours of Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hours of use are:<br>* weekdays: 8:50am &#8211; 30 minutes before closing.<br>* Saturdays and Sundays: open &#8211; 30 minutes before closing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A maximum of 2 hours can be booked per group.<br>\u203bIf no one else is booked, you can extend your stay by up to an additional 2 hours. Please ask at the information desk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"use\">How to Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please show your representative\u2019s student ID card or library card at Information Desk.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If your representative doesn\u2019t arrive at Information Desk after 15 minites of the appointment time, your reservation will be canceled.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please note the following:<br>\u30fbPlease leave the door open.<br>\u30fbNo food or drink allowed. (Only capped drinks may be brought in).<br>\u30fbPlease refrain from loud noises or other behaviour that disturbs the surroundings.<br>\u30fbWhen leaving the room, please return the room to its original state, switch off the air conditioning and lighting.<br>\u30fbUse may be restricted if the rules and etiquette of use are not observed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Equipments<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Movable Chars, Desks, White Boards, Screens<br>Projector (please ask at the Information Desk)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"break\"><span class=\"header-line\">Break Room<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2275\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-break01.jpg\" alt=\"Break Room\"><br>Break room is for relaxing.<br>Only drinks are allowed.<br>You can chat with your friends or take a break here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pod\">Online Pod (in Break Room)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-pod-225x300-1.jpg\" alt=\"Online Pod\" class=\"wp-image-64694\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This facility is available to members of the university only.<br>Each user may use the facility for up to two hours per day, one person at a time.<br>Please use this space for online classes, online meetings, and similar activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pod_conditions\">Conditions of Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eligibility: <strong>University members only<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Capacity: <strong>1 person<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Time Limit: Up to <strong>2 hours per person, once per day<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pod_apply\">How to Apply<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reservations can be made through the <a href=\"https:\/\/op.lib.kobe-u.ac.jp\/opac\/rsv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Room Reservation<\/a><strong> starting one week in advance<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there is availability on the day of use, reservations will be accepted at the Information Desk. Please present your student ID card or library card.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"pod_procedure\">Procedure on the Day of Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Please present your <strong>student ID<\/strong> or <strong>library card<\/strong> at Information Desk and receive a <strong>key<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After use, return the <strong>key<\/strong> to Information Desk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notes on Use<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Eating and drinking are prohibited (only beverages in bottles with lids are allowed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please refrain from loud or disruptive behavior that may disturb others.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please restore the room to its original condition before leaving.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Failure to comply with the usage rules and proper manners may result in restrictions on future use.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"main\"><span class=\"header-line\">Main Reading Room<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2284\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-mainread02.jpg\" alt=\"Main Reading Room\"><br>Main Reading Room is for quiet study. Unlike the Sub Reading Room, you can use your laptop.<br>This room is preserved as it was built in 1933 as an example of the architecture of that era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"sub\"><span class=\"header-line\">Sub Reading Room<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2286\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-subread01.jpg\" alt=\"Sub Reading Room\"><br>Sub Reading Room is for very quiet study. Anyone can use this room, but use of electronics such as laptops and calculators is prohibited here due to the noise of typing on a keyboard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"browse\"><span class=\"header-line\">Browsing Room<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2277\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-browsing01.jpg\" alt=\"Browsing Room\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\"><br>There are approximately 80,000 study and reference books in the library. There are also reading desks, audio-visual booths, and a global book corner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"journal\"><span class=\"header-line\">Journal Room<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-journal01.jpg\" alt=\"Journals Room\" class=\"wp-image-2280\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Materials in Journal Room<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Newspapers and current journals are available. Newspapers from the last 2 months and journals issued within the last 1 year are located in the Journal Room.<br>NCOP journals are also available here.<br>Back issues are stored in the stacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Use Journals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Journals are generally for in-library use only, but you can lend them for a day.<br>Sometimes journals for the preceding year are unavailable because they are being bound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"header-line\">National Center for Overseas Periodicals (NCOP)<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How To Use NCOP<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>NCOP is located in the Library for Social Sciences.<br>Journals of NCOP are treated in the same way as general journals .<br>If you have any questions about NCOP, please ask at Information Service Section for Social Sciences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Current NCOP Journals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Journal Room (2nd floor of Administration Building)<br>: Their location is separated from that of general journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Back Issues<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Stacks\uff08Basement 1st floor of Frontier Building\uff09<br>: They are mixed with general journals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What Is NCOP?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"350\" height=\"262\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2285\" src=\"\/media\/sites\/2\/img-shakai-ncop.jpg\" alt=\"The National Center for Overseas Periodicals\"><br>NCOP\uff08National Center for Overseas Periodicals\uff09 collects rare foreign journals to supply Japanese universities and research organizations in order to enhance the national academic infrastructure. MEXT chooses 9 universities to locate NCOP branches, divided by academic field.
