Rare Books<\/span><\/h3>\n

You must get permission in advance to browse the original manuscript archives of Rare Books. Please inquire about applications to the Information Service Section for Social Sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We prohibit the lending of Rare Books, and you cannot read them for any purpose other than research.<\/p>\n

Doctoral Dissertations<\/span><\/h3>\n

The Library for Social Sciences retains all doctoral dissertations of Kobe University.
\nPlease check Kobe University Repository Kernel<\/a>.
\nIn-library use only. (You cannot borrow doctoral dissertations.)
\nCopying less than half of all pages is permitted in accordance with copyright law in Japan.
\nIf you wish to photocopy the entire document, please submit the author’s written permission.<\/p>\n

Changes to dissertation submission and public availability<\/h4>\n

Generally, doctoral dissertations submitted after April 2013 are available on the web within a year as digital media.
\nThe doctoral dissertations submitted before March 2013 are available in print.<\/p>\n

How to use printed doctoral dissertations<\/h4>\n

Printed doctoral dissertations are located in the stacks, so library staff will take them out on applicants\u2019 behalf. Please ask at the information desk.
\n*Only for in-library use (You cannot borrow doctoral dissertations). <\/p>\n

Advance application<\/h5>\n

If you wish to use doctoral dissertations on a Saturday or Sunday opening day, please apply by Thursday of that week, giving information on the papers you wish to use (as it takes time to research and place orders). The maximum number of papers you can apply for is 20. If the library is closed on Friday, please apply by Wednesday.
\n*It takes time for research, retrieval and preparation for browsing after receiving the application at the counter.
\nEven if you plan to use doctoral dissertations on a weekday, it will be smoother if you inform us of the title, author and completion date in advance.

\n*Users are not allowed to enter the storage area.<\/p>\n

\nTheses that have not been published online can be viewed using specific PCs in the library. Please ask at the information desk.<\/p>\n

There may be cases where a dedicated computer is not immediately available due to it being in use or for other reasons. Please contact us as far in advance as possible.

How to use<\/h4>\n

In any case of reading or copying master\u2019s theses, you need a warrant of the author\u2019s agreement. Applicants must acquire permission from the author on their own, without library assistance.
\nException: Some MBA theses submitted after 2009 can be read or copied without permission.
\nThe library does not intermediate or provide authors\u2019 contact details.<\/p>\n
